Sports Journalism BA(Hons)
Our freshly redesigned degree in Sports Journalism keeps track of the latest developments in sports journalism and embraces the opportunities in media sport in the age of digital media. This programme builds key creative and technical skills in the coverage and promotion of sports, while also developing your understanding of how digital media have furthered sport’s rise as a global entertainment industry.

You’ll be introduced to everything from writing a basic match report or presenting your own TV sports show to working across digital platforms including social media and podcasting.
You can choose from a range of modules, from investigative reporting through to the latest innovations in journalism.
You’ll be taught by tutors who are leading the way in their fields. Writers, broadcasts, academics and researchers all contribute, and our staff regularly work for national newspapers and magazines.
We have an impressive range of equipment, including TV and radio studios, professional cameras and software and smartphones for mobile recording.

Experienced sports journalists will show you how to write quality copy against a tight deadline. You’ll also have the chance to develop the skills you need to plan and produce TV and radio programmes. We’ll also look at social media, explaining how you could stand out on some extremely popular platforms.

Queensgate
The university's main campus, Queensgate, is south-east of Huddersfield town centre. Virtually all of the university's teaching takes place on the site. The campus is split in two by the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. It features a mixture of converted mill buildings, and purpose-built facilities

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
BBC at A Level
112 UCAS tariff points from a combination of Level 3 qualifications
DMM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma
Pass Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits at Merit or above
112 UCAS tariff points from International Baccalaureate qualifications.
Applicants with prior learning or prior experiential learning will be considered individually by the School of Music, Humanities and Media Accreditation and Validation Panel, to assess whether it is appropriate to grant general or specific credit towards the course.
Applications from international students will be considered on an individual basis, and with advice from the University's International Office.
If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.
