Job Opportunity Potential

Graduates will be able to work in a range of environments from the cultural sector to television, film, online content creation and production houses.

Though you are likely to pursue a career as a screen performer after graduating, the technical production skills you learn on the MA will equip you to work in production behind the scenes or indeed to create your own original film/digital content.

Potential employers include those in the media such as television and film production companies but also businesses, charities and educational providers. Skills employed in the making of screen performance and digital screen production, such as independent and collaborative problem solving, gathering and synthesis of ideas and themes, understanding and integration of the needs of a range of stakeholders, can be used to address many areas of creative practice.

Graduates will also be equipped through the programme to pursue careers as individual, self-employed practitioners working across forms and disciplines.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

  • If you have a 2:2 or your degree is not aligned to acting or performance, we would want to see a portfolio / showreel or links to examples of your acting roles.

INTERVIEW AND AUDITION

Suitably qualified candidates will be invited to an interview, before a decision is made about their application. When you attend for interview you must bring with you a 300-500 word piece of critical writing on an area of media or performance that interests you.

You will also be asked to prepare a 3 to 4-minute audition monologue. This should be taken from a published script and should fit your casting in the area of screen performance, taking into consideration playing age.

Your writing should aim to convey which particular area of screen acting/media is of interest to you and that you wish to develop through postgraduate study. Your audition allows you to demonstrate your ability to apply characterisation and naturalistic acting methods in performance.
