Graduates are employed as medical scientists in the field of diagnostic pathology, as medical researchers, or as clinical investigators.

Medical scientists work in:

• Hospital laboratories
• Private pathology laboratories
• State health laboratories
• Universities
• Technical support within commercial companies.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

• Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
• Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
• Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
• The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

• Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
• Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
• Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
• PhD students can stay upto 4 years

You must have successfully completed:

• An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in a cognate discipline (Laboratory Medicine, Biomedical or Biological Sciences, or Medicine) with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (out of 4.0), and which includes studies of molecular biology or molecular pathology with a practical component at or above second year undergraduate level; or
• An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in a cognate discipline (Laboratory Medicine, Biomedical or Biological Sciences, or Medicine) which includes studies of molecular biology or molecular pathology with a practical component with at or above second year undergraduate level; and at least 5 years (full-time equivalent) of relevant work experience in diagnostic pathology.

If you wish to have industry or employment experience assessed as part of meeting the entry requirements you will need to provide a detailed CV/resume listing previous positions, dates of employment and position responsibilities; a statement from your employer confirming these details and evidence of any relevant professional development undertaken.

Please note: The February intake is only available to applicants who hold an undergraduate degree in Laboratory Medicine or; an undergraduate degree in Science or Biomedical Science with a third-year specialisation in Biochemistry or Microbiology.
