What is bioinformatics?

As the only program of its kind in Missouri, UCM’s bachelor’s in Bioinformatics draws from many disciplines. With a Computing and Statistics emphasis, you’ll take courses in biology, chemistry, computer science and more, so that you can approach and understand big sets of data through many lenses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
The international admissions process varies depending on your student type and whether you are pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree. In general, students pursuing a bachelor’s degree are classified as undergraduate. Below you will find admissions requirements explained by student type.
Please note, we consider Intensive English Program to Bachelor’s students to be undergraduate students (those in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree). Similarly, we consider Intensive English Program to Master’s applicants to be graduate students (those in pursuit of a master’s, education specialist, or doctoral degree).
Demonstration of English Proficiency
Proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following:
a. TOEFL exam score of 61 IBT*
b. IELTS exam score of 5.5*
If you do not meet this requirement, you may participate in our Intensive English Program to Bachelor's track.
*UCM does not currently accept the at-home version of the IELTS or TOEFL exam.
Transcripts
All undergraduate students are required to upload unofficial transcripts to their student portal (created upon application submission) and submit official transcripts to our office. These transcripts will be used for advisement purposes. Students must have a 2.0 high school GPA or above to be admissible. If the applicant has taken undergraduate coursework the cumulative GPA of the undergraduate coursework must be a 2.0 or higher to be admissible.
