Study the policies and behavior that govern our society and culture in the University of Central Missouri’s Political Science bachelor’s degree program. Choose from one of four subfields to specialize in:

American Politics: Explore the institutions, issues and political dynamics that are fundamental to the U.S. political system. This subfield of political science is a great choice if you’re interested in a career in government or public service.
Comparative Politics: Get an in-depth look at the key political dynamics in global regions such as the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia.
International Relations: From security issues and climate change to globalization and human rights, the International Relations subfield explores the complex politics between countries and international institutions.
Law and Theory: If you’re interested in getting into law school and a career in law, choose the Law and Theory subfield to gain an in-depth exploration of American Constitutional law, civil liberties and civil rights and courtroom law.
Online classes in UCM’s undergraduate Political Science degree program

At the University of Central Missouri, our Political Science Bachelor of Science program offers many courses online to help you complete your coursework in a way that fits with your schedule. Examples of online courses for Poli Sci majors include International Human Rights, Administrative Law, International Law, Federalism and Intergovernmental Relations, Public Administration, Municipal Administration and Principles of International Development.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

The international admissions process varies depending on your student type and whether you are pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree.  In general, students pursuing a bachelor’s degree are classified as undergraduate. Below you will find admissions requirements explained by student type.

Please note, we consider Intensive English Program to Bachelor’s students to be undergraduate students (those in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree). Similarly, we consider Intensive English Program to Master’s applicants to be graduate students (those in pursuit of a master’s, education specialist, or doctoral degree). 

Demonstration of English Proficiency

Proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following:

a. TOEFL exam score of 61 IBT*
b. IELTS exam score of 5.5*

If you do not meet this requirement, you may participate in our Intensive English Program to Bachelor's track.

*UCM does not currently accept the at-home version of the IELTS or TOEFL exam.

Transcripts

All undergraduate students are required to upload unofficial transcripts to their student portal (created upon application submission) and submit official transcripts to our office. These transcripts will be used for advisement purposes. Students must have a 2.0 high school GPA or above to be admissible. If the applicant has taken undergraduate coursework the cumulative GPA of the undergraduate coursework must be a 2.0 or higher to be admissible.
