Build on your previous study and equip yourself for a fulfilling career in law with a Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) at Victoria University (VU).
If you hold a degree in any other discipline, you can fast-track your law degree with VU. By entering as a graduate, you’ll study the same core subjects as your classmates in the Bachelor of Laws but graduate in three years instead of four.
Enjoy the flexibility of studying in four-weeks blocks with the unique VU Block Model®, with the option to study some of your units fully online so you can manage work and family commitments.
You’ll be based in the heart of Melbourne’s legal precinct at our City Campus, learning from expert legal academics and supported by adjunct professors who are some of Australia’s most reputable legal professionals. Thanks to our partnerships with the courts and community legal services, you’ll also gain practical, real-world experience of the justice system – preparing you to work in the corporate, commercial, community or government legal sectors.

Job Opportunity Potential
A law degree is the first step towards becoming a barrister or solicitor. Upon graduation, you will meet the academic requirements as required by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board. Admission as an Australian lawyer can be obtained after successful completion of the practical legal training requirements.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent).
PLUS: - IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score or 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).
