Bachelor of Education (Primary)
As a primary school teacher, you'll encourage children’s curiosity and inspire their inquisitive minds. The Bachelor of Education (Primary) draws on the latest educational research in combining university study with practical school-based learning. It develops skills relating to literacy and numeracy, diversity and differentiated learning, leadership and research, and effective educational uses of information and communication technologies.
Choose one of four minors to further develop your content knowledge: English and Literacy, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Numeracy, or Science. Supervised classroom placement commences in the first year and in your final year you'll undertake a professional experience placement, where you take full responsibility for teaching a class with minimal input from your teacher or mentor.
Studying the Bachelor of Education (Primary) will give you expertise in the Arts, English, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science and Technologies.

Situated on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land, UQ’s main campus is a vibrant mix of majestic sandstone buildings and contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and lakes. Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- All international applicants need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12 (or an equivalent qualification) and meet the minimum entry score for this program.
