Bachelor of Mathematics
Learn how to solve theoretical and applied mathematics problems across science, engineering, information technology, economics and business, and gain the foundation for a successful career.
You will develop comprehensive specialised knowledge in your chosen field of mathematics, or a high level of sophistication in the applications of mathematics generally. You can then apply your knowledge to sectors of the economy including finance, economics, information technology and molecular biology.
You'll gain quantitative and analytical skills, along with a foundation of calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, mathematical analysis and modelling. You will also develop a deep knowledge of mathematical topics and a high level of sophistication in the application of mathematics across a variety of fields and industries.

St Lucia
Situated on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land, UQ’s main campus is a vibrant mix of majestic sandstone buildings and contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and lakes. Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry scores
All international applicants need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12 (or an equivalent qualification) and meet the minimum entry score for this program.
Prerequisites
Queensland Year 12 or equivalent English, Mathematics B; plus two of Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics C or Physics, at least one of which must be Chemistry or Physics.
