GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN DATA SCIENCE
The Graduate Diploma in Data Science provides students with a solid and extensive understanding of the techniques and practices of data science-related theories and applications, and equips them to meet the challenges of working in industries requiring specific data science knowledge and skills, such as data visualisation, deep learning, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
The Graduate Diploma is designed for students with little or no background in data science but wishing to attain a post-graduate qualification in this area, or who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Data Science. Students with a bachelor’s degree in different disciplines or a GCDS (SPI credits recognised) are eligible to apply for this degree.
By completing this course, students will acquire essential and specific data science skills, which will enhance their employment opportunities, assist in career development, and allow them to tackle work challenges relevant to data science. Upon completion, students may choose to progress to the higher-level Master of Data Science.
To qualify for the award of the Graduate Certificate in Data Science, a candidate must:
– Complete 5 compulsory units with an accrued total of 30 credit points;
– Complete 3 elective units with an accrued an total of 18 credit points.

- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
English language proficiency
- IELTS Academic - A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each subtest; or
- PTE Academic - A minimum result of 58 overall and a minimum result of 50 in each subtest; or
- TOEFL IBT score - A minimum result of 79 overall including a minimum result of 21 in Writing, 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening and 18 in Speaking; o
- TOEFL PBT score - A minimum result of 550 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing
The results of the English Test must be valid and the test should have been taken no more than 3 years prior to the commencement of the program at SPI
