Our BA (Hons) International Accounting (Top-up) equips you with the skills and knowledge you need to generate and or support new business opportunities and income for organisations worldwide. It has been introduced at a time of growing demand for high-calibre accounting professionals who can work in international settings.

The course is specially designed for students who already have a HND – or equivalent qualification from overseas – in a relevant subject like Business Management, Finance or Accounting. It enables international students to achieve a highly regarded UK honours degree within a year. It will also appeal to mature students with significant professional experience who could use the degree as a platform for promotion and improved career prospects.

We will give you in-depth technical knowledge of financial practices and processes, plus a thorough understanding of how they relate to the global business environment. You can also choose from optional modules, covering subjects such as international taxation and financial reporting, so that you can tailor your degree to match your professional interests, career ambitions and professional developments in your home country.

The BA (Hons) International Accounting (Top-up) prepares you for finance and business careers in organisations that operate both in your home country and across borders. Your knowledge of accounting in a global context will give you the edge when applying for roles with multinational accountancy firms, merchant and investment banks, high street banks and building societies, insurance companies, management consultancies and public sector employers.

Our Careers and Employment Service will provide you with support from day one of your course to ensure you leave Derby as a ‘work-ready’ graduate – industry aware, motivated and enterprising. Throughout your studies, you will also benefit from our Personal Development Planning (PDP) scheme which enables you to reflect on your learning and develop your career ambitions.

The support continues once you have completed your course too: you are entitled to further help and guidance from the Careers and Employment Service for up to three years after leaving the University.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

FOR INDIA

  • Students with a minimum average of 65% in the Standard XII/Intermediate/Higher Secondary Examination can typically be considered for direct entrance to Bachelor degree programmes
  • Students with a minimum score of 60% in the Certificate of General Nursing and Midwifery from State Nursing Boards or Councils can be considered for entrance to the second year of a related degree programme.

English

  • Academic or UKVI IELTS no older than 2 years and must meet the requirement of the course of study.
  • Cambridge IGCSE English with Grade C
  • Completion of UK degree in the UK within the past two years.

For most of our programmes at bachelors degree level and above, you will normally need an IELTS score of between 6.0 and 7.0 with a pre-requisite minimum score in all areas. (speaking, reading, writing and listening). We will accept one of the alternative equivalent qualifications below:
