FORENSIC SCIENCE MSc

If you are a Forensic Science graduate, this Masters will deepen your specialist forensics knowledge, advance your broader laboratory analysis skills, and enable you to undertake research in an area of your choice
If you are a graduate from another science discipline (such as chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or another analytical science), this Masters will enable you to learn specialist forensic science skills and techniques, at the same time as building on your expertise in laboratory analysis and research
You will have access to a range of specialist facilities, including our Forensic Training Facility, forensic laboratories, specialist imaging suite, insectary, forensic anthropology suite, photography suite, vehicles, clandestine burial site, courtroom, and ballistics laboratory

Having an MSc in Forensic Science will give you a competitive edge in the jobs market over those with just undergraduate degrees. On this MSc for instance, you will be able to develop your specialism and build up more practical laboratory experience. You will also have postgraduate-level research experience, which the industry now recognises as important, following publication of guidance and legislation such as The Forensics Review (2019) and the Forensic Science Regulator Act (2021). PSW Opportunity

2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Bachelors degrees from institutions recognised by NARIC or government recognised institutions

Requirements will vary depending on recognition of institution and scoring system used. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis

A score of 60% is considered comparable to a UK 2:1; a score of 50% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2 plus work experience

For most of our programmes at bachelors degree level and above, you will normally need an IELTS score of between 6.0 and 7.0 with a pre-requisite minimum score in all areas. (speaking, reading, writing and listening). We will accept one of the alternative equivalent qualifications below:

Oxford English Language Level Test (ELLT)

Pearson Test of Academic English

TOEFL iBT Overall score of 79 - 100 (with specific minimum score requirements for each component)

LanguageCert International ESOL SELT B2 – C1

Michigan English Assessment Battery (MELAB)

Michigan Test: Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE)

Cambridge English Scale: B2 – C1

International GCE O Level English Language: Grade C

International GCSE English or English as a Second Language: Grade C

We also accept a number of qualifications from other countries as evidence of English Language proficiency, e.g. WAEC, KCSE or 1119 so please check our international entry requirements for each country.
