Agronomy, BS
SMSU’s Bachelor of Science in Agronomy prepares students for successful professional careers in agriculture and related science. Increasing global food/fuel demands have created a real need for technologically-advanced crop production systems that are profitable and environmentally sustainable. SMSU’s Agronomy Program emphasizes a balanced and interdisciplinary curriculum to meet environmental and economic needs of the future. Agronomy students will study topics designed for modern agriculture including natural science, crop production, soil fertility, Arc GIS, precision agriculture and pest management. Internships and participation in SMSU’s undergraduate research conference create opportunities for agronomy students to have hands-on experience and skill-building in experimental design. PSW Opportunity
Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.
Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).
STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Secondary Education: Completion of high school (roughly 12 years) with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Foreign transcripts require evaluation by services like WES, ECE, or TEC.
