BSc (Hons) Actuarial Data Science

The actuarial profession is evolving rapidly, with data science playing an increasingly significant role. Looking ahead, the profession will continue to explore key data sources and integrate data science techniques, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, alongside the actuary’s business insights.

The BSc (Hons) Actuarial Data Science programme at Heriot-Watt University offers a diverse range of courses in actuarial science and statistics, equipping students with expertise in the newest areas of data science, particularly artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Graduates of this programme will develop strong quantitative, numerical and computational skills that are highly applicable across industries, particularly in insurance and finance, as well as in exciting emerging fields such as health, technology and climate change. Graduates aspiring to become qualified actuaries may be eligible for exemptions from some of the professional actuarial examinations.

This programme is ideal for students who enjoy working with numbers, particularly in modelling and probability, and who are eager to apply data science tools and techniques to solve real-world challenges.
