Master of Global Public Health
This program helps you to develop and further your career in public health practice, research, and/or management. It allows you to re-orient your work interests in health to disease prevention and health promotion and is widely recognized both nationally and internationally as the public health credential for careers in public health. The program focuses on the socio-ecological model of public health that emphasizes and analyses the important interactions between the social, biological, economic, and environmental determinants of health.
They enable you to apply this analytical skill set to plan, implement, and evaluate population-based interventions that protect and promote health. The program has a strong focus on global health and provides you with the opportunity to focus your public health studies by selecting from a range of electives in areas such as public health nutrition, health promotion, climate change, international health, environmental health, and health services management.

- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Global Public Health, applicants must have:
- a related Bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale);OR
- a Graduate Certificate in Public Health* from Griffith University with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale); OR
- a related Graduate Certificate (or equivalent qualification) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale).
* Students applying for admission via this pathway may be eligible for Advanced Standing or specified credit of up to 40 credit points depending on courses completed in the Griffith Graduate Certificate in Public Health program. Credit applications for other Graduate Certificate programs are assessed individually and will require assessment of similarity in learning outcomes.
Students who wish to transfer from the Master of Public Health to the Master of Global Public Health must do so before graduating from the Master of Public Health.
