Neuroscience, MRes

As a student on our MRes programme you’ll be taught by internationally-recognised experts in various fields of neuroscience. As active researchers, we undertake wide range of basic and pre-clinical research and this first hand research experience will inform and drive your learning. You will enjoy specialist talks from external expert speakers, hear the latest findings at the Faculty research seminar series and ultimately integrate into the research culture through your extended research project which spans two semesters.

The programme has a strong focus on employability skills. You will gain hands-on experience of a range of cutting-edge laboratory skills, learn to effectively plan and manage a successful research project, and become fully trained in lab safety and risk assessment so that you can hit the ground running when you begin your project.

There are a variety of different ways you can access our Preston city campus, whether by rail, road or air. Preston is well served by the M6 motorway both north and south and excellent cross country rail links. There are also two major international airports in Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon.

PSW Opportunity

2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

55% in bachelor degree

70% in Year 12 English*
Or
70% average grade in Year 11 and Year 12 English provided Year 12 is not below 65%
Or
Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

GCSE or O-Level English Grade C - Grade C

A Level English Language - Grade C

TOEFL iBT including Special At Home Edition - 88 (with minimum grades of 21 in each component)

UCLan Test of English Language Level (TELL) - Merit (75%) with no component below pass (65%)

Pearson Test of EnglishAcademic - 61 with minimum of 55 in each component

2:2 BSc (Hons) degree or above in related subject (e.g. biomedical sciences, pharmacology, biochemistry, pharmacy, physiology, genetics etc) or appropriate work-related experience, which will be considered on a case by case basis.
