MSc in Physics
UNB’s physics graduate program is a force to be reckoned with in the academic world. This nationally-accredited program has earned an outstanding reputation for its accomplishments in research. Students acquire an advanced physics understanding while developing an original research project in their preferred field of study.
Our award-winning faculty have magnetic personalities and the campus itself radiates a positive energy, full of students who are on the same wavelength. Graduates have lots of potential and go on to work in universities, government institutions, industry, schools, financial organizations and more. We typically have around 20-25 graduate students, with one-third of them MSc and the rest PhD students.

UNB Fredericton
Fredericton is the original campus of UNB, dating to 1785, and one of the most beautiful campuses in the country with its red brick, ivy-covered Georgian architecture and lush landscape. Situated attractively on the banks of the Saint John River, Fredericton is New Brunswick’s capital city, and is ranked as one of the best places to live in Canada.
UNB Saint John
The Saint John campus is located in the province’s largest city and commercial centre. Saint John offers vibrant arts and entertainment community and a historic harbour-front of lively sidewalk cafés, restaurants and shopping. Situated on the Bay of Fundy, Saint John features rugged coastal landscapes intertwined with forests and wetlands.

If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a B average or minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 out of 4.3
