Human Development and Family Science - Marriage & Family Therapy Opt., MS

The Human Development and Family Science graduate program issues one Master of Science degree with two connected and distinct specialization areas: Human Development and Family Science, consisting of 30 credit hours, and Human Development and Family Science with specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, consisting of 54 credit hours. These two emphasis areas share foundational courses and the Marriage and Family Therapy students complete additional courses and clinical training.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To apply for admission to a master’s degree program at UCM you must have a bachelor’s degree. To apply to an Education Specialist’s degree program you must have a master’s degree. Prerequisite degrees must be from institutions accredited by agencies recognized by the University of Central Missouri.  If you have graduate coursework you must have a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher to be admitted to a graduate program.

Department Admission Requirements

Some graduate programs at UCM require standardized tests, such as the GRE or GMAT, and some require a minimum GPA, letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose and/or other materials. To learn more about requirements for your specific program, please review the Graduate Catalog. For specific program questions, please contact the designated graduate coordinator for your area of study.

Demonstration of English Proficiency

Proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following:

a. TOEFL exam score of 79 IBT*
b. IELTS exam score of 6.0*

If you do not meet this requirement, you may participate in our Intensive English Program to Master's track.

*UCM does not currently accept the at-home version of the IELTS or TOEFL exam.
